Fuck off bitch, oy vey!, and oh crap, again?
Saturday night I met the gang to introduce Ted (aka
eastbayted) to New York, again. We had fun, drank, took pictures and were generally rowdy and too loud for the neighbors, most likely. On the way home on the Path, I decided I must have been channeling Jim (I called to make sure he was still alive) because a guy picked a fight with me. Why do they pick the smallest female to do this? It's always some guy picking a fight with me. I did have fun, because I wasn't really angry, just irritated, and make him feel like a complete heel, enough for him to apologize to me two different times. I got home after 5. Ugh. Sunday I cleaned up around the place, a little, anyway, and then met Patrick out for a drink, then Eddie, the guy who cuts hair at Balance, met him out later. Saw Jim at Barrow St Grill and we chatted for a bit and he stumbled home. Going home later, I walked past the Merchant and see him in there. I walk in to tease him about where home was but he was there with his 2 new roommates who happen to be from Derry City where he's from. They're very nice; I like them a lot. Cool couple; hope they move to this area.
Monday I cleaned a bit more, hung around the house and went to work. Tuesday cleaned a bit more (laundry) and then went to see my friend Mark Aaron James play. After a great show, he and I went to Marie's Crisis. I had forgotten about that place. It's somewhere every out-of-towner should be taken to. Nothing is the quintessential New York but a room full of queens belting out "Hello Dolly" in a piano bar. I really like Mark. He's such a cool guy. Shame he's Zach's roommate one, and two, well, I won't tell you. ;)
Yesterday I worked all day, tired as hell from the previous two nights, and then after work got
eastbayted to come out here to kick it JC style! It was a mellow night, but I think he got a nice taste of local action. Not like Wed is a happening night anywhere, but eh. Drink at The Merchant where he admired what a nice place it is. Went to Barrow St Grill and had some micro-brews and Patrick and Ward met us out for a fun hour of chatting, drinking and laughing at people. Dodged a drunk Sue stumbling in and out of the Merchant and Majestic bars on our way to the light rail into Hoboken. Yes, I took Ted to Hoboken...
We went to Mulligan's and bugged Jim a bit, drank and Ted played his first game of darts. I hope he keeps playing; it's fun to do in a pub, you meet people, and you're doing something besides just drinking. I didn't play as well as I can, but that's probably for the best...Ted got to meet the elusive Jim, so he exists, see! He even got to hear a typical Jim-ism: When I pointed out that Sunday he'd said that Soco lime shots were his favorite (they are not) he said "Now, see Gloria. There you go again. I hate when you tell me things I do that I don't remember because I was drunk." I may remind him about a few other things.
eastbayted and I then took the Path into the city where I couldn't find us a bar that was open within easy walking to save my life. Finally we stopped to have a slash, a slice and a diet Coke. I took the Path home, and saw Irish Dave the chef coming out of the train, and while we were chatting Eddie from work stumbled out of the station behind us. Oy. Eddie went home, Dave and I chatted for a bit and he hugged me while I teased him about his many women. Silly guy.
Today...clean house and finally finish, go to the doctor's for my tests, ugh, and have a couple of people over for some drinks and cheese and movies tonight. Anyone up for it?
